URGENT: PRAYER REQUEST

Dear friends,
We sent a request a few weeks ago about our sister Yulee who was admitted into the hospital for unknown complications. Doctors say signs of her cancer has returned and her condition has unfortunately worsened, forcing her to be transferred into a hospice. Yulee is a 37-year-old victim of repeated trafficking and has suffered the cruelty of NK prison camps more than once. She was brought to a shelter after her third escape to China where she was introduced to the Gospel of Jesus. Read an excerpt from her testimony below:

"I asked God to save me.  Other Christians told me to be prepared to go to heaven.   I wondered if I could live.  I couldn't eat any food or drink any water without throwing up 30 minutes later. I also knew I had too many sins.   How could I go to heaven?  Then I got a phone call from church.  They said someone could help me live. I couldn't believe it.   So I took a four-hour train ride.  I was so weak that I couldn't even walk 10 feet.  Then I met Teacher Kim who brought me to the shelter.  We went and saw a specialist who thought he could cure me with acupuncture and medicine in 5 days. On  the third day however, he told Teacher Kim that there was no hope and that I would be dead by the fifth day.  He told the others to keep me comfortable and make funeral arrangements.

But Teacher Kim did not give up hope and found believers to pray for me.   They believed that if God touched me, I could be healed.  Eleven people laid their hands on me and prayed.  That night, I had bad cramping and passed something when I went to the bathroom. Three days later, we went to the hospital for another ultrasound to find that the cancer had miraculously disappeared! The doctors were in disbelief. For me to be alive when I should be dead is a testimony of God's power! God gave me life!

A new life has been given to me.   God is real and present in the world.  He is always with me.  If anything is bothering me, I pray for God's help. God has commanded me to return to North Korea next year.   To help starving, falling people find God. He is preparing me. I asked, "How can I go? I can't go, God.  I'll have no food."   God said, "Ask.  Don't worry.  I will provide everything that you need." When my head fills with worry, I hear Him say, "I can do it all for you."

I want to spread the Gospel in NK.  The North Korean people submit to the government. I want to help them submit to God.  I have two daughters in NK, ages 16 and 14.  They are waiting for me.   They might think that I am well now because I took expensive medicine in China, but God healed me.  I pray that they don't starve before I can go and share with them about God."

Please join us in praying for our dear sister Yulee. We know that God works in seemingly impossible circumstances and can heal the sick, if it is His will. Please pray that our sister Yulee would continue to depend on the LORD and walk in faith and hope.

If you would like to consider how else you could support Yulee besides in prayer there are also medical bills that are accruing and that need help being paid. Currently, the field staff has been borrowing money in faith that God will provide the provisions to cover all her expenses. Won't you consider, if you are being led by the Lord to give monetarily as well as prayerfully. We treasure and value your continued partnership.

A Burning Home

If your house was going down in flames and you had to choose only one item to save out of your burning house, what would it be? About a month ago my fiancé and I had a very illuminating conversation with my parents. They told us a lot about my family history, specifically about my grandparents who had a similar decision to make.

At the onset of the Korean War, my grandparents (paternal) lived in the North and fled to the South. My grandfather was a proud descendant of the second in command for one of the most powerful Korean dynasties. His most prized possessions were heirlooms, which were passed down from first son to first son for hundreds of years until finally my grandfather had them. His diary, his schedule and some other random desk items were (out of all the things my grandfather owned) what he chose to carry on his back as he was fleeing, which today are on display at a museum in Seoul.

I picture his young hands clutching the rope that held those precious heirlooms to his back. I picture his feet leading his family through the dark countryside. I cannot help but wonder how a man, probably around the same age as I am, could make the decision to flee the place he called home because of an impending invasion.

I have my grandfather to thank. His grave resides in Niles, IL, thousands of miles from the peaceful place he once resided. That place where he once felt proud in the knowledge that his forefathers once made important decisions for important people. That place where people knew how to pronounce his name. Because of him I am alive.

So it’s an ironic twist of fate that two generations removed, I would be involved with an organization that is helping people whose ancestors weren’t as fortunate as mine. Even more ironic that I would end up spending a month along the border helping these people. It has been a saying in our organization for years that “we didn’t make CB happen, CB happened to us.” And as pseudo-Malcolm-X as this sounds, we really believe it. It is my privilege to spend my free time to help those who are truly in need because, for all I know, I could have been one of them.

CB Australia

Thank you for all those who prayed for our Australia presentation yesterday. We were able to raise a lot of support for some recent projects that we're working on and gained some more valuable parterships along the way.

Thank you to Sydney Full Gospel for their invitation to come and also for their generous hearts that you blessed us with!
